Fellow CAMWESTies
Here is another event you may like to participate in and support. TADNSW is Technical Aid for the Disabled, and this event is to promote and support one of the programmes that they run, which provide modified bicycles for children with disabilities.
The following is taken from the website www.tadnsw.org.au
Do you have a bike? Come and join us for a sponsored ride along the M7 shared path to raise money for TADNSW's Freedom Wheels programme.
LOCATION
The Westlink M7 Freedom Wheels bike ride will be conducted on the Westlink M7 shared pathway. Assembly point will be Lady Penhryn Park, Shanke Crescent, Kings Langley. The Westlink M7 has approved the ride. The shared path will remain open to all users.
There will be two loops for riders:
1. 12.5 km. Lady Penhryn Park Kings Langley entry/exit to a turnaround point at the Woodstock Ave entry/exit. This course is deliberately set so that the return ride will equal 25 km. Professional riders will be encouraged to achieve a ride of 100klm (four circuits).
2. 1.2 km. Lady Penhryn Park Kings Langley entry/exit to a turnaround point at Sunnyholt Road. This short route is primarily for Freedom Wheel riders and family.
For the not so fit amongst us, you will have the option of riding any length along the pathway between (1) and (2) !
DATE AND TIME
Sunday, 4th December 2011. You can ride anytime between 9.00am and 1.00pm.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are still required for the day. If you want to assist please fill out the application form and email to info at tadnsw.org.au . For more information on volunteering for the day please call Elva on 9912 3400.
FUNDRAISING TARGET
You can set up your own mini website on our webpage. The full cost of a Freedom Wheels Bike for a child with a disability is around $2100. Parents are asked to make a contribution towards the bike. The remaining cost is met by TADNSW. We suggest you target $1200 as your goal (that’s 40 friends at $30 each).
SPONSORS
The major sponsor is Westlink M7, United Nations International Day for People with Disabilities and Blacktown City Council.
