Subject: Kids Foundation Charity Ride comes to Circular Quay Tuesday 1st May, 2012 12noon – 2pm, 2012
Please see excerpt from KIDS Foundation Press release. Get down to Circular Quay next Tuesday to support Craig and the crew.
As the ‘Crowie’ Flies…… butt on a bike for the KIDS Foundation.
Fresh from winning Melbourne’s inaugural Asian Pacific Ironman Championship in March 2012 Craig “Crowie” Alexander is back in the saddle and joining some friends for the annual 1200km Port Melbourne to Port Macquarie Kids foundation Charity bike ride.
Winding their way through regional Victoria and New South Wales, with a stop-over to pedal some more on wind trainers outside the Opera House at Circular Quay in Sydney Tuesday May 1st, the 40 strong cyclists will be accompanied by a support crew of twenty volunteers. They are all on a mission to support the KIDS Foundation, a national charity that changes lives for those impacted by childhood injury, specialising in recovery from severe burn trauma.
To date, a total of $115,000 has been pledged to the event.
With the help of the Urban Hotel Group, Compass Group and GIO Suncorp, the KIDS Foundation has been able to harness the passion and cycling power of those touched by the work of the KIDS Foundation including 3 x Hawaiian Ironman World Champion Alexander, former Olympic swimmer Susie O’Neill, media personalities such as Daniel McPherson and Bacon from Bondi Rescue.
“I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I said yes to the Ride to Port Cycle Challenge,” said Alexander.“But after meeting many burn survivors like Brock and his family, I know that this is one ride I won’t ever forget. The tough conditions of Ironman really are child’s play when compared with the stamina and mental attitude of these kids.”
Information on the Ride to Port Cycle Challenge charity ride can be found on the Ironman Australia website or at KIDS Foundation www.kidsfoundation.org.au
