Grab your bike for cancer
Saturday 5 August 2006, Centennial Park.
Now in its third year, Ride for Life 2006 is offering more activities
for novice cyclists, families and friends, and more opportunities to
support people who have felt the effects of cancer.
Saturday 5 August is for everyone! With many opportunities to support
cancer research or just grab a blanket and enjoy the day. Whether you
re there to compete, cheer on cyclists, watch past Olympians take each
other on, join in the fun ride, or just enjoy the atmosphere, it s a
day to circle in your calendar.
Cyclists again this year will be able to dedicate their ride to loved
ones and friends who have fought the battle with cancer. Individual I
m a Survivor , To Honour or In Memory of tags for the ride will be
available at the registration table.
For people who wish to support cancer awareness each and every day,
Ride for Life orange silicon bracelets are also available for sale at
$2 each at most bicycle shops and at the event.
Activities for children include skills riding and safety pit stops.
For enthusiastic Junior Firies and interested families, the SES and
the NSW Rural Fire Service will have fire and rescue vehicles on
display as well as staff available to talk to the community about
safety in and around their homes.
Entry fees are $30 for a standard entry, $40 for late entry, and a
team of three can register for only $90. For Family Fun Rides a single
entry is $10 and a family of 4 is $30. All proceeds from the day go to
supporting the Oncology Department at The Prince of Wales Hospital.
The course will feature a 2.5 kilometre circuit closed to vehicular
and pedestrian traffic.
