Hi everyone,

For info,

For Media Release & Map, see
http://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/westernsydneypark/track.asp

As part of the Western Sydway Parklands Project, a 27km path (with large
chunks actually being the existing M7 path) is being constructed from
Quakers Hill Parkway in Quakers Hill (opposite the end of Breakfast Ck
Shared Path and connects to the M7 path) to Bringelly Rd in Horningslea
Pk (Near the intersection of Cowpasture Rd, Bringelly Rd & Camden Valley
Way).
Most of the path appears to have been constructed, but a lot of the
access gates are now padlocked. I haven't checked in the last few
weeks, but there was a section of a few hundred metres just north of
Nurragingy Reserve that hadn't been completed last I checked.
Most of the path runs within 1 or 2 km of the M7 path.
Some of the path in the northen section is gravel, some of it reasonably
rough.
Although it provides very little 'commuting' benefit, (being so close to
the M7), it should provide some recreational benefits, including some
really good short loops (in conjunction with the M7 path). At present,
some of the road crossings are less than ideal though.

There are several new sections of track:

- Quakers Hill Parkway to the Great Western Hwy, passing through
Nurragingy Reserve. Mixture of gravel and sealed. At least some
sections closed.
- (Contrary to what the signs on the M7 path say at present, the path
then follows the Horsely Drive from the M7 to Ferrers Rd and the
Fairfield Farm/Prospect Reservoir path. The signs along this section
have recently been moved off the pathway. This used to be a bit of a
dodgem course) - Open
- One short sealed section (previously grass) joining the Fairfiled City
Farm/Prospect Reservoir shared path with the loop road that runs up to
Sugarloaf Ridge through Western Sydney Regional Park.) - Open, but not
signposted if travelling South
- A sealed section of path that runs from Border Rd (again in the park,
between Sugarloaf Ridge and Saxony Rd) down to Villers Rd and joins the
M7 path again. - Open
- A sealed section that runs from the southern most bridge over the M7
to the northen end of Twenty Seventh Ave in West Hoxton. This appears
to be sealed, but gates locked. More fencing required on western side
of M7 bridge by the look of things.
- (On-road path along Twenty Seventh Ave)
- Path continues at the end of Twenty Seventh Ave, and heads towards
Bringelly Rd. At the 27th Ave end it was sealed. Haven't checked the
other end !
