Hi everyone,

Some may have seen the recent articles in the Sydney Morning Herald in regard to cycling:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/money-wasted-on-cyclists-nrma/2008/01/09/1199554742667.html

And a couple of responses:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/cycling-the-way-to-go-in-this-overcrowded-city/2008/01/10/1199554826137.html

http://www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/sydney-is-cyclists-oyster/2008/01/11/1199988589357.html

Rather than attacking cyclists (A lot of whom own cars and I'm sure are already NRMA members), I reckon it would be great if the NRMA introduced a 'bike-assist' product similar to the RACV's product in Victoria - See http://www.racv.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/Internet/Primary/roadside+assistance/bike+assist/

I've sent a brief email to NRMA president, Alan Evans(alan.evans at mynrma.com.au) expressing these views, and inviting him to come out cycling and see some of the examples of what cyclists regularly contend with.

Anyone else feel like writing him a quick email?

(Thanks to Paul from St George BUG for sending the original links through).

cheers,

Rob
