Here is some info on the Spring Cycle for Volunteers. We still need a heap more for the Blacktown leg, mainly as route marshalls.

With 4 weeks to go until the big day, a lot is happening here in the office to plan for the 2008 City of Sydney Spring Cycle. Advertising material around the city has just gone up and rider participation numbers are up on last years figures, which means we are on track for a record breaking 10,000 plus cyclists this year!

The two new ride options - Ride Blacktown and Ride Liverpool - have been warmly received by the public and the support we have received from local community and government groups has been fantastic!

Volunteer numbers are growing each day with over 250 people already signed up, but we need more! So if you know someone who’s not riding=2
0but would like to be part of the City of Sydney Spring Cycle action, then sign them up today!

City of Sydney Spring Cycle – Volunteers Wanted!

We need more volunteers to help out on the day doing all types of exciting roles like route marshalling and assisting at the start sites. This is a fantastic opportunity for your partner, friend or family members to be involved in the event and encourage riders on the day, who greatly appreciate your support and efforts.

So if you’re interested in exciting Volunteer Opportunities that ‘Rock’ and ways to raise more money for the MS Society, then sign up for the 2008 City of Sydney Spring Cycle and experience the thrill of running Sydney’s premier recreational cycling event!

To add a bit of spice and flavour to the event this year we have the guys from Unicycle Hockey out to show us all how they do it on one wheel.

The Kids Corner will be the “place to be”, where all the kids and yes some adults will get the chance to have their faces painted and get up close with some cute and fuzzy animals - thanks to Fairfield City Farm.

Bicycle Demonstration, talks and information session – A great chance to hear the latest in cycling and fi
nd out what your local BUG is about and when their next big ride is on.

Bicycle NSW, BUG’s and Friends Tent – Come in and say hi to your local BUG and cycling group and find out the latest in the cycling world.

Market Stalls – A great chance to shop and browse through a variety of stalls, check out the latest Cycling products, environmentally friendly products and find out what your local community group is up to.

Big Screen Entertainment– An exciting edition for 2008 is the Big Air Cube, a giant inflatable TV to display short cycling films and live feeds of all the action happening on the day.

Back again in 2008:

The NSW Criterium Championships will be on showcasing the elite Criterium cyclists the state has to offer. So come on down and cheer on the cyclists for the NSW championship.

Hand cycle demonstrations – The guys from Hand Cycle will once again be out at the finish showing us all how cycling is done from down there.

City Bike Depot will be out amazing us all with their trials tricks.

A team of dedicated and hard working professional masseurs have once again kindly volunteered their time to give quick 5 min leg massages to cyclists after their cycling adventure through Sydney.

A wide selection of mouth watering food and drinks will be on sale to please every appetite.

Dancing tunes and rocking beats will be heard throughout the park, as Slide McBride performs a variety of hits from the Main Stage.0A
