Bicycle NSW has implemented a #cycleways4people campaign calling on the State Government to deliver a suitable and safe network of cycleways as committed to in the Sydney City Centre Access Strategy. We have also asked for consultation, commitment and transparency around the plans for the College and Castlereagh St Cycleways. Bicycle NSW asks you to take action too by writing to your Premier and Ministers highlighting the benefits of cycleways and asking key questions about these critical pieces of cycling infrastructure. We must hold the NSW Government to the commitments made in the Access Strategy and their promise to reduce congestion, provide for future growth and improve access to our city.

The WestConnex Motorway is set to be one of the biggest motorway projects in Australia’s history and provides the catalyst to restore the Parramatta Road corridor around which almost a quarter of Sydney’s population lives. WestConnex will change traffic volumes on the road, providing an opportunity to improve active and public transport amenities. If you think cycleways and pedestrians should be a priority on a revitalised Parramatta Road then we encourage you to have your say in this survey which is being used to refine the Draft Parramatta Road Urban Renewal Strategy.

We all know that motorists must leave plenty of room when passing bike riders, and this handy little rear light set which has lasers beaming a virtual lane on the road surface might just help make that message even clearer. Not only does the light set emphasise the need for drivers to leave room, it also allows you to signal your intentions via remote-activated left and right indicator lights patterns. Bicycle NSW members can score 25% of these light sets – simply include the discount code BCNSW2014 in the ‘comments’ section when making an order from the ‘contact’ section of the Pimp My Bike website. If you’re not a Bicycle NSW member, why not join now to receive this and other great benefits?
